The Armor of God

Pastor Randy Solomon preaches on Ephesians 6:10-20, opening with a description of the astronaut suit he worked on as an engineer at NASA. He disproves evolution with one word: entropy. He mentions a story from The Insanity of God:  A True Story of Faith Resurrected by Nik Ripken. He also shares an observation by Corey ten Boom, whose story is told in The Hiding Place and Return from the Hiding Place.

Pastor Joyce Swingle mentioned that Drama Evangelist Rich Swingle will be speaking after two screenings of On Wings of Eagles, a new film about Eric Liddell. She also announces that Rich's one-man play about Liddell will available to view online soon: www.RichDrama.com/BtC.

Several congregants respond by announcing what the Lord Jesus Christ has done in their lives in a time of testimony led by Pastor Linda Warren.

Drama Evangelist Rich Swingle shares that www.ChristianCinema.com's Facebook page is featuring his one-man play Beyond the Chariots and urges people to like and share to reach the most people possible.

Reveal the Christ

Pastor Linda Warren preached on Matthew 3:13-17, the baptism of Jesus. Unfortunately, there was a technical error, and recording was interrupted. Pastor Linda approved Rich and Pastor Joyce Swingle summarizing the end of the sermon.

Rich opens the service telling where he got his dashiki (in the photo to the left). The fuller story can be found at www.RichDrama.com/Njeri. He shared about our current Bible study, “Adjust Our Attitudes” – a study on the Beatitudes, and about his review of On Wings of Eagles. He reads from Liddell’s book, The Disciplines of the Christian Life. Click for details on the screenings on November 3 and 4. Rich will field questions about Eric Liddell after the film. He also mentions Compassion International, who he represents when he performs his 1-man plays. John C. kicks off Operation Christmas Child box packing, and Pastor Joyce leads the community in prayer.

Operation Christmas Child 2017

This year we'll be gathering our boxes on November 12. Pick your empty boxes at any service between now and then. See the charming video below for instructions on how to pack your box, but don't miss this year's prohibition on toothpaste and candy due to shipping regulations.

In 2014 Pastor Joyce Swingle felt led to share with the check-out clerk why she was making her purchases, and the clerk told how her daughter received a box after their family was effected by Superstorm Sandy. The woman said she didn't realize it was individuals that packed the boxes. We're expecting that many boxes will go to children who were in the path of the devastating hurricanes this season.

Our community gift this year will go toward training and equipping an evangelist:

When the apostle Paul knew his days were numbered, he commissioned Timothy to carry on: “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. … Be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:2, 5). We thank God for giving us the opportunities—and trusting us with the responsibility—to tell millions about Jesus. Your gift will help Samaritan’s Purse to train preachers through mobile Bible schools, show the JESUS film to villagers who have never heard God’s Word in their own language, equip Christians with audio-based Gospel tools, and support a variety of grass-roots evangelistic projects.
Shoe boxes and donations to this community gift will be collected together on November 12th, at our 11 a.m. Worship Service at the Crowne Plaza.

Please bring your packed boxes, rubber bands to secure them and the appropriate labels for each box, along with the mailing fee ($9/box) and any donation to the community gift.  Checks for the community gift should be made out to Westchester Chapel with a note in the memo line for Samaritan's Purse.  Checks for the mailing fee should be made out to Samaritan's Purse, with a note in the memo for Operation Christmas Child.  You can also pay the mailing fees and register your boxes online at www.SamaritansPurse.org, which enables you to track your box.

Please come to service even if you do not have a box to add; there will be plenty of extra boxes to which you can add your craft item and bless as they wend their way to bless the children this Christmas.

Here are some inspirational and instructional videos to help prepare your minds and hearts for this great blessing. If you're reading this in an email you can view the videos at www.WestchesterChapel.org/OperationChristmasChild.

Here's the amazing 100-year-old woman we met through this video in our service...

John on Jesus and Judgement

Pastor Joyce Swingle peaches from Matthew 3:7-12, in which John the Baptist pulls no punches about judgement and the need for Jesus the Savior to avoid eternal suffering.

Pastor Jim Warren opens reading 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. He references his sermon from last week, Embrace the Oddness. Pastor Linda Warren releases the Treasure Seekers and shares the announcements. She praises the Lord that the largest Spanish speaking church in White Plains is Centro de Avivamiento Valle de Sitim, una Iglesia del Nazareno, which was established because we opened our doors and our hearts to them and agreed that we were one people with two languages.

Renewing the Covenant

Pastor Joyce Swingle speaks on the God of the Covenant, whose faithfulness is unparalleled and utterly dependable, from Malachi 4: 1-6.  She also explains the Day of the Lord when evil is overcome and justice is rendered by the Lord God.  Pastor Rachel Taylor explains the Jewish roots of Atonement in an explanation of Yom Kippur from Lev. 16: 29-34 and Pastor Linda Warren prays for the message and over the offering.
