Living the Life: Choices series review

Rich Swingle led a special service, which included a review of our Living the Life: Choices sermon series. What you'll hear was preceded by small groups reviewing and reporting on their favorite passages from "The Sermon on the Mount", the text we've been covering in the series so far: Matthew 5:3-7:12.

Here's the full quote by Randall Flinn, artistic director of Ad Deum Dance Company:
I learned today that in order to live a transformational life that I first must learn to live a sacramental life. So what is sacramental living? It is living in the remembrance and to the honor of a greater Sacrifice, broken, shed and given for me. It is for me to receive from that Living Communion and also to give from its same mystery. This majestic Grace which incarnates itself, even in a vessel of flesh, bids me to sup, to be filled, and to pour out. What sweet communion indeed! (On his Facebook Timeline)

Filming Return to the Hiding Place.
In the sermon, Pastor Randy mentions the book The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. You can also see the films The Hiding Place, in which Corrie is played by MasterWorks Festival MasterClass instructor Jeannette Clift George and Return to the Hiding Place, an upcoming film Rich and Pastor Joyce Swingle saw at the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. The new film focuses on the work Corrie and her teenage friends were doing before they were thrown into the death camp. The film won "Best Feature Film" and the "Audience Choice Award" at the festival. The film is being shown at other festivals, and producers are in talks with distributors.

Choices in Worship Songs

Our Choices sermon series is coming to a close, and we'll have a special service on September 1 to reflect on the series as a community. Rich Swingle will lead us in some creative reflection, so come ready to have fun. To get you started, we're encouraging you to choose songs for our worship lineup for that morning. You can go back through previous services at www.WestchesterChapel.org/Media and review the scriptures and many of the sermons. You can even listen to the worship lineups of those services to get ideas. Let Pastor Joyce know your choice/s or put them in a post below. We'll use as many of them as time allows.

Treasure in Heaven or Treasure on Earth

Pastor Jim Warren preached on Matthew 6:19-24. Rich Swingle brought the MasterWorks theatre department to the service after they closed Twelve Angry Jurors in an Off-Broadway theatre: MasterWorksFestival.org/NYC. They all sang in the service, led by Robyn Haley. Josh Knox performed excerpts from Freud's Last Session with Rich. The piece shows an imaginary conversation between CS Lewis and Sigmund Freud. After their performance (not included in the recording due to copyright restrictions) Rich talks about how he and Josh performed it the night before for one of Rich's grad school professors who had CS Lewis as his advisor at Oxford. He met with Lewis for an hour every week.
