Ignited by Divine Fire

There were some technical difficulties that resulted in most of this service not being recorded. We've posted what was captured: Rich Swingle opens worship with a reading from Richard Foster's Celebration of Discipline. Pastor Randy Solomon tells about his upcoming trip to Columbia, and Adrienne C. reports on Operation Christmas child.

Sermon from Providence

We decided to cancel today's Bible study and service since the blizzard prompted the governor to declare a state of emergency for our region. The sermon planned for today will be preached next week, so for this morning I've recorded the sermon I prepared for Providence, in which I play Pastor Mitchell Little. It's a silent film, but I wanted to be preaching a real sermon when the camera was rolling. I never got through it when we were filming, so I promised my screen congregation that I'd record the whole thing and post it online. Today seemed like a great day to do that.

The photos are stills from the film (used by permission). My character was preaching an Easter message in the cemetery where he first encountered Rachel, who used to own the Bible from which he's preaching.

This music video shows excerpts from the sermon in the film...

Here's the trailer for Providence, which is being shown now in theatres that will host the film starting February 12...

Unity in the Holy Spirit

Pastor Randy Solomon preaches on 1 Cor 12:12-25.

He opens by talking about how New York City was paralyzed by a garbage strike in 1981, going on to talk about the need for everyone in the community to operate in the Spiritual Gifts they've been given in order for the Kingdom of God to grow and thrive.

Pastor Jim Warren opened the service with a meditation on 1 Corinthians 1:4-8, and he prayed us into worship.

Rich Swingle announced the February 12 opening of Providence coast to coast and on Times Square. He shared about ways Westchester Chapel has had an impact around the world through direct ministry to 35 nations (he thought of two more after the service), introducing enacted prayer to Kenya via friends who went there as missionaries, and through our website.

Gifted for Good

Dr. Linda Warren unpacks the Gifts of God's Spirit, as listed in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. She illuminates the need to distinguish between the Holy Spirit and spirits that are not from God. Pastor Jim Warren opens with Matthew 2:1-12. Pastor Randy Solomon reads Isaiah 61:1-3, prays over the sermon and shares the announcements.

Rich Swingle reads Scripture and shares about his Christmas gift: a framed memorandum his grandfather typed in 1940 declaring his wholehearted devotion to the Lord and his people. Read the memorandum itself by clicking here.
